HDT New Generation
VK PROJECT BERLINA

Project Berlina was the brainchild of Barry Lake, the then editor of Motor Magazine. The idea was, Motor Magazine would supply a EFI 6 cylinder VK Berlina (Lakes's company car) to HDT for them to modify the car, which would be documented over several issues of Motor Magazine.

The car featured the brand new HDT designed Aero wheels, Borg Warner T5H (as opposed to the T5G fitted to V8 Commodores), upgraded suspension work and some engine development, including revised camshaft, cylinder head modifications and oversized injectors. Interior refinements included a set of Scheel sports seats, HDT gearknob, Brock sound system with graphic equaliser and the obligatory Momo steering wheel.

Although the documentation of it's build helped sell many magazines, it didn't excite anyone at HDT and thus ended up as a one off.
